The AC is running but it's not cooling — what's wrong?
Most commonly: low refrigerant (leak somewhere), dirty or frozen evaporator coil, failed capacitor, or an undersized/under-maintained system trying to keep up during a heat wave. Diagnosis starts with pressures and airflow.
Should I replace an old R-22 AC?
Probably yes. R-22 hasn't been produced since 2020 and reclaim prices are climbing. A single major leak repair on R-22 can cost $1,500+, and we can't get it in some regions at all. If your AC is 12+ years old and using R-22, replacement almost always pencils out.
