Toronto

What indoor air quality looks like in Toronto.

Toronto's housing mix — from Victorian semis to postwar bungalows to new infills — means every install is different. We plan for chimney-liner requirements, tight mechanical-room footprints, and the venting constraints that come with older homes.

Call us when:

  • Allergies or asthma that get worse indoors
  • Dry winter air, static shocks, cracking wood floors
  • Stuffy or stale air, condensation on windows
  • New-baby-on-the-way and a partner who wants cleaner air
  • Renovation dust, smoke, or construction nearby
  • Basement moisture and musty smells

FAQ

Indoor Air Quality in Toronto — your top questions

Do I need duct cleaning?
Usually not. In most cases a media filter upgrade, sealed returns, and a quality HRV solve the problem at the source. We'll tell you honestly whether cleaning is warranted in your case — many HVAC companies push duct cleaning as an upsell when it doesn't fix the underlying issue.
What MERV rating should I use?
Most GTA homes do well with MERV 11–13 in a 4–5 inch media cabinet. Higher MERV = better filtration but also higher static pressure, which can stress the blower. We size based on your system, not a one-size-fits-all number.
Do I need an HRV if my house is old?
Depends on how airtight it is. Older homes often don't need one — they leak enough. Newer builds and well-sealed renos often do. A blower-door test or just a week of CO2 monitoring gives a clear answer.
