Condenser

The outdoor coil that releases heat to the air — the radiator-like thing your outdoor AC unit is built around.

The condenser coil is where the high-pressure refrigerant from the compressor releases its heat. Air pulled across the coil by the outdoor fan carries the heat away.

Dirty condensers are one of the most common reasons ACs underperform. Cottonwood seeds, leaves, dust, and dryer-vent lint coat the coil and choke airflow. Symptoms: AC runs constantly but doesn't keep up on hot days. The fix: gently spray the coil from the inside out with a hose every spring.

Don't use a pressure washer — bent fins reduce airflow permanently. We carry a coil cleaner and fin comb on every spring tune-up.
